The dollar is a commodity <2026-04-22 Wed 15:27>
I'm reading a book called "What Has The Government Done to our Money" by Murray Rothbard. I learned this:
Money is a commodity. Its mostly demanded for its use as a medium for exchange.
Pre-money societies had barter systems. Every item (like tools, butter, milk) were considered marketable. A caveat to trade was that both parties coincidentally needed to want what each other had. Also, some bartered commodities were less divisible than others. For example, how can you determine how many eggs, flour, and butters a single snow plow is worth.
Indirect exchange was created. The two most used commodities in the USA are Silver and Gold. The free market has determined those to be the standards for barter. Money is a commodity just like those. The "price" of money is the exchange rate of a dollar to its weight in another commodity (gold or silver). The demand for the dollar is because of how easy it is to exchange for other goods. People buy dollars because dollars are easy to exchange for other goods and services. Its an easily divisible commodity, which we now call money.
That's about as much as I read which I can remark upon. I will be a millionaire!

Welcome! I'm not exactly sure what I'll be including on this page. I have many projects I don't ever finish until completion. Right now, for instance, I would like to start learning how to trade stocks. I've told myself I have to start first with waking up early, as that should be the easiest and mandatory step in this process. I've said that if I spend the next 10 years of my life reading about stocks, I should actually become half decent at trading. The goal is to make money in the game of capitalism. I don't want to work all of my life
Today on my walk I considered detoxing from my phone. It's proving to be less exciting since i use my phone for everything. Instead i'll try to integrated and be mindful of my usage.
This is my favorite quote of this last two weeks
I am Neo You are Neo We are all Neo & perceived reality is being disturbed
I saw someone being negative constantly the text chat of an overwatch game. The one thing i was thinking was that this guy was literally Neo from the matrix, and he's using his power to be negative. His mood was a reaction to his perceptions, and he made a choice to influence the percieved reality of others by being a negative baby (he lost the game ha).
This is just a fun concept for me rn. Not to be taken literal.
